2002-04-13 This was a very busy day. I got to the shop (in McHenry, IL) at 8:30am (!!) and left at 11:30pm. I'm writing this the next day and I hurt badly from body aches.

There are three major areas of progress this day that are mine: -My uh18 lift duct came off the mold and was trimmed -My uh-12r drive train was assembled (no pictures!?! what was I thinking?) -My uh-12r lift guard was started.

The drive train: The pulley set for my uh-12r showed up that day. As such, I made a backing plate for the wood pulley (top) and assembled the whole thing. It's not mounted on the craft yet, but it is assembled.

IMG_0094.jpg I popped this off the mold using a fork lift and a chain hoist. This is not an easy process. We clamped the duct mold to the forks and pulled up on it with the chain hoist.
IMG_0095.jpg Before trimming, the duct weighed 12.5 lbs. Afterwards, it weighed 12.0. The scale is an electronic one with 1/2 lb accuracy, for what that's worth. It took 3 quarts of epoxy to make it.

IMG_0098.jpg I want an actual lift guard that's not just chicken wire stapled to the intake on the duct, put there the day of the race. So I started one that's going to be removable.
