Went hovering at Bob Windt's place for the weekend. I figured this was going to be both fun and my only chance to get my 12r running for Muscoda. I was right.

IMG_0024.jpg
IMG_0025.jpg Shane on the left, who busted his hump trying to make my 12r run the first day. Much obliged. Bob on the right, this is one of the many "action shots" I got of Bob.
IMG_0026.jpg
IMG_0027.jpg Travis's craft. It's very quiet. Shane drove it across a crowded beach with a stack of people in it, and didn't annoy anybody. No sand blowing around, nobody's hair messed up and no obnoxious noise. Unbelievable.
IMG_0028.jpg An action shot of Travis.
IMG_0029.jpg An action shot of Bob, only he kept moving his head before I got the shot. Digital cameras rot because of the 3-second time lapse while it figures itself out.

IMG_0031.jpg
IMG_0032.jpg Shane's craft is the green one. This is almost like watching an f2 craft go, but it's f25. It accelerates like a rocket and can do a lot of things you wouldn't expect from f25. It must be extremely light in order to do that, and everything in the power train must be exactly right.
IMG_0033.jpg
IMG_0034.jpg This is my 12r. As if you hadn't guessed.
IMG_0035.jpg A distance shot from over by the bonfire pit.

IMG_0037.jpg
IMG_0039.jpg More Bob action shots. He's doing handstands, and doing better than what it looks like here. It's that 3-second shutter thing again. I never had the upper body strength for this.
IMG_0040.jpg
IMG_0041.jpg
IMG_0042.jpg Bob's control line attachment for the new 18. Amazing.
IMG_0043.jpg Now I'm in that same 18, with Bob driving.
IMG_0044.jpg I'm taking video with Bill's video camera, and that's where my eyes are at. Bill's driving the WIG, and I'm trying to take pictures with my camera from the side at the same time. Limited success, as you can see.

IMG_0046.jpg
IMG_0047.jpg Lost a wing fragment while coming in to the beach. This is an example of how much can be done to these crafts and still have something controllable.
IMG_0048.jpg The front part is still on the craft.
IMG_0049.jpg Bill's trying to fly it without that part of the wing. He gets almost into the air, and then the lack of lift from the broken side dips the trailing spar into the water. At that point, he's going sideways and can't correct it. I was surprised he could get even that far.
IMG_0050.jpg Here he's going a moderate 40 or so, but not trying to get in the air.
IMG_0051.jpg
IMG_0052.jpg Night time recreation. This is sawdust being stuffed into an aluminum tube.
IMG_0053.jpg The crowd goes wild!
IMG_0054.jpg The leaf blower shoots sawdust into the bonfire.

IMG_0056.jpg Trying different lock-n-load schemes.
IMG_0057.jpg
IMG_0058.jpg Before...
IMG_0059.jpg During.
IMG_0060.jpg This is probably the best method of loading.
